Joint Replacement Rehab

Urbana Physical Therapy continues to see great success in rehabilitating patients who have undergone joint replacement surgeries.

Here is what a few of them have to say:

"[I] could barely walk or bend my leg.  Had to use my walker or cane.  Could put no weight on my leg.

[Now I'm] much better, don't even use my cane.  Can walk normal, a little slow but doing better every day.

Jackie was a wonderful therapist!  Everyone here is so helpful & friendly.  Jackie was so patient working with me."

"I had a total knee replacement.  I used a walker and I was in pain.  I was also depressed and had doubts if I had made the correct decision to have the surgery.  I did not think I would recover sufficiently to chase my grandchildren.

[Now] I am able to walk without a walker or cane.  Much of the time I don't think people would notice that I have a 'glitch in my getty-up.'  I am close to being able to straighten and bend my knee as I hoped I would.  I can chase and catch that grandson!

I have really enjoyed my experience coming to UPT.  The entire staff has made me feel valued as a client and, maybe more importantly as a human being.  The therapists and assistants have been very concerned about my level of pain and have given me 'homework' exercises to help with my progress.  I am glad I had the surgery and I am pleased with the progress I have made- and UPT has been a major contributor to the progress.  If I have to get my other knee done, I will do so gladly and come to UPT."

"When I first came here it was about four weeks after I had a complete knee replacement-left knee.  Every movement I made with that knee was very painful.  I was using a walker.  I sometimes cried when I bent my knee, while I was doing exercises at home.

[Now] I feel 100% better.  I no longer have pain when I walk, ride my bike, or exercise.  I am able to bend & straighten my knee to my satisfaction.  I am sure I would not have improved without therapy.

I think all the therapists that worked with me are fantastic. I really feel like they did their best with me, & I'm going to miss them & their help."

"I had a knee replacement revision d/t pain for the last 3 years.  I also have Parkinson's.  I was progressing well after rehab but needed some help with pain, extension, and flexion.

[Now] I have great extension and flexion and have much less pain.  I also have had some success with the PRRT therapy in relieving my Parkinson's symptoms (R leg muscle tightness and pain).

Benjy is wonderful with PRRT.  The entire staff is professional and friendly.  Urbana PT is a great place to come for rehab and/or strengthening."

"Had TKR 5 days before coming here for the first time.  Everything was stiff and tight.  A lot of swelling and bruising at the time.

[Now] The swelling is down.  I feel more limber and normal.  Bruising is a lot better.  Walking with a cane, feel more secure.  I feel good for 3 wks post surgery.  Muscles feel so much more relaxed after rx's.

The staff has been great from front desk to clinicians.  Everyone pleasant, feel more like you're with friends.  Feel right at home.  In 9 visits I've made friends."
